Dr. Harald Lausen serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics (CAH&C) and the South Central Hospital Alliance. With over 20 years of experience in family medicine, Dr. Lausen is dedicated to enhancing rural healthcare through clinical excellence and leadership.
In his role with the South Central Hospital Alliance, Dr. Lausen collaborates with regional healthcare leaders to strengthen rural health systems, improve patient outcomes, and advocate for sustainable healthcare solutions.
Dr. Lausen is deeply committed to quality improvement, population health, and healthcare informatics. His passion for advancing rural healthcare and medical education is evident in his ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility and excellence in the communities he serves.
As President and CEO of Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics, Brian Burnside leverages more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in generating organizational momentum by recognizing the potential in every employee to provide the best possible care to the residents of the rural communities they serve. Applying innovative tactics related to culture, strategy, and growth/care advancement, Brian leads the Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics team toward creating a model rural healthcare system of the future. By doing so, Brian has shown rural healthcare can not only survive — it can thrive with revolutionary thought leadership and an unwavering commitment to the organization’s team and its mission to advance a professional medical community and hospital to promote expert healthcare, close to home.
Healthcare facilities under his leadership have been consistently recognized for high patient and employee satisfaction by national industry publications such as Becker’s Hospital Review and Press Ganey. Accolades include the 2016 Pioneer Award (Rural Hospital CEO of the Year) – Rural Healthcare Leadership by the Texas Hospital Association, the 2010 Young Executive Achievement Award by the Iowa Hospital Association, the 2009 Summit Award: Patient Satisfaction Excellence by Press Ganey, and “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review in 2015 and 2017.
Brian received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration & Finance from Westminster College (Fulton, MO) in 1995 and a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Health Services Administration from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) in 1997.
Michael Alexander, MS, FACHE, currently serves as president and chief executive officer at Hillsboro Health, formerly called Hillsboro Area Hospital, in Hillsboro, Illinois. Mike began as interim CEO at Hillsboro Health in January 2023 then was named official CEO in April 2023. He has worked in health care for almost 40 years, with more than 30 years in executive-level roles in acute care hospital settings.
Mike also has experience working with multiple governing, advisory, and philanthropic boards. During his career, he has been involved in multiple design, renovation, and construction projects, including two complete facility replacement projects. One of his great joys comes from helping people and organizations to perform beyond their own expectations.
Mike holds a master’s degree in counseling from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Troy University, Troy, Ala. He also holds a graduate-level diploma in faith-based counseling.
Trina Casner is an alumna of Pana High School, where she graduated in 1984. She pursued her higher education at Millikin University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1988, followed by a Master of Business Administration degree in 2009. Trina is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Trina's career at Pana Community Hospital began in 2001 when she joined as the Chief Financial Officer. Her dedication and expertise led to her promotion in 2012, when she assumed the role of President and CEO.
